The Department of Rural, Environment and Agriculture Development will host the inaugural Provincial Youth Awards as part of Youth Month celebrations. The awards will recognise the role played by young people in showcasing dynamism towards agriculture transformation as well rural development in the province. The awards further aim to proliferate a new meaning to agriculture by demystifying the general perception of agriculture as a least career choice of young people.
The ceremony will reward excelling female and male youth owned enterprises that are 80% run and managed by young people themselves. The accolades will be bestowed upon young people based on the categories including Best youth enterprise, Best youth entrepreneur, Best innovative enterprise, Best researched journal, Best youth based cooperative, Best youth commercial farmer, Best agro processing enterprise and Overall achiever.
