North West Legislature conducts public hearings on North West Biodiversity bill 2015 and North West Youth Entrepreneurship Services Fund Bill 2015, 13 May

On Friday, 13 May 2016, the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Premier, Treasury and Enterprise Development and Portfolio Committee on Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development will be conducting public hearings on the North West Biodiversity bill 2015; North West Provincial Council On Aids Act Repeal Bill, 2015 and North West Youth Entrepreneurship Services Fund bill 2015 in four districts of the province at 09h00.

The public hearings will be held at  Mahikeng Embassy Hall; Oppenheimer Community Hall in Orkney, Japie Kotze in Stella, and the White Hall in Brits.

The North West Biodiversity bill 2015 aims to provide for the management and conservation of the North West Province’s biophysical environment and protected areas within the framework of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998); to provide for the protection of species and ecological-systems that warrant provincial protection; to provide for the sustainable use of indigenous biological resources; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

The North West Provincial Council on Aids Act Repeal Bill, 2015 aims to provide for the repeal of the North West Provincial Council on Aids Act, 2001 (Act No. 5 of 2001) and to provide for matters connected therewith.

The North West Youth Entrepreneurship Services Fund bill 2015 aims to provide for the establishment of the North West Youth Entrepreneurship Services Fund; to provide for the repeal of the North West Youth Development Trust Act, 1997 (Act No. 7 of 1997); to provide for the management of the Fund by the Board of the Fund; to determine the objects, powers, duties and functions of the Fund; to determine the manner in which the Fund is to be managed, governed; staffed and financed; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
