On Tuesday, 08 March 2016, the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Premier, Treasury and Enterprise Development will be conducting public hearings on the North West Appropriation bill 2016 in four districts of the province at 16h00.
The public hearings will be held at Lichtenburg Community Hall in Lichtenburg; Klerksdorp Auditorium Hall in Klerksdorp; Bloemhof Town Hall in Bloemhof and Brits Town Hall in Brits.
The North West Appropriation Bill 2016, aims to provide for the appropriation of amounts of monies from the North West Provincial Revenue Fund for the requirements of the province in the 2016/2017 financial year.
It is a money bill that has set aside a sum of money from a budget from the Government coffers for a specific purpose.
Part of the Legislature’s mandate is to promote public participation & oversight, therefore the Bill intends to hear the voice of the community with regards to how funds should be allocated into various Government structures.
This will be in the spirit of open democracy, transparency & ccountability.
The money appropriated by the Legislature to the government departments should be spent in terms of the Public Finance Management Act No 1 0f 1999.
