Botswana roundtable dialogue puts villages’ development initiatives under spotlight
Bokone Bophirima Province will this week host a delegation from the Republic of Botswana, for a roundtable discussion on business initiatives in Tshidilamolomo village, which shares the borderline with some of the Botswana villages.
The two-day roundtable discussions which will put village development plans under spotlight will be held on Wednesday 21st to Thursday 22nd September 2016.
The dialogue will provide an opportunity for Tshidilamolomo residents and those from affected villages in Bokone Bophirima - Botswana borderlines to suggest ideas of businesses that could contribute towards the improvement of their economies and create local employment.
This initiative follows the launch of Tshidilamolomo border crossing pilot project in December last year by the Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, which was aimed at strengthening the neighbourly relationship with the Republic of Botswana.
While business discussions will center on amongst others, agriculture, culture and tourism as key economic development pillars identified by the provincial government, emphasis will be on realising the Rebranding, Repositioning, and Renewal (RRR) strategy, with special focus on villages that are economically active.
The delegation from Botswana will be led by the South African High Commissioner in Botswana, who will be accompanied by amongst others the traditional leadership and Chairpersons of Botswana’s Eastern and Southern District Councils respectively.
Premier Supra Mahumapelo of Bokone Bophirima who will also be joined by the local traditional leadership, Local Mayor and MECs, will deliver a keynote address.
