North West congratulates the 2015 Matric class

The Bokone Bophirima Provincial Government welcomes the release of the 2015 National Senior Certificate results by the Minister of Basic Education on Tuesday 05 January 2016 and the Provincial results by the MEC for Education and Sport Development Wendy Matsemela.

The North West Province obtained 81,5% in 2015 which represents a drop from the 84,6% of 2014.

Considering the increased number of candidates that wrote the 2015 matric examination, Premier SOR Mahumapelo congratulates all education stakeholders in the province.

“The number of candidates who passed this year’s NCS is the highest ever in the province. The fact that 5057 more candidates passed from this cohort is a major achievement compared to the previous years,” said the elated Mahumapelo.

Mahumapelo took time to congratulate the 2015 class of matric, particularly those who made it against all odds.

He further called on all learners who did not pass to make full use of the second chance matric support programme announced by the Minister of Basic Education.

“It is not the end of the world for all learners who did not pass, it is just a stumble and they will bounce back with the necessary support in 2016,” Mahumapelo said.

The North West Province has recorded a 59,89% pass of the progressed learners and this is a significant achievement as it shows that with the required support leaners are able to perform well.

389 learners, which represents 10,98%,  achieved admission to higher institution for degree studies and this is a notable achievement.

The Office of the Premier invited deserving learners to apply for Kgetsi-ya-Tsie Bursary and Skills Development Fund which Premier SOR Mahumapelo launched in 2015 at Modimong village.

The Office is in the process of finalising the received applications and successful candidates will be duly contacted.

The Provincial Government calls on all public entities and the private sector to collaborate with government in assisting to fund post matric studies of learners who are admitted at institutions of higher learning.
