No water in Merafong
The pipeline supplying water to Khutsong Extentions 1; 2; 4 and: Welverdiend; Welverdiend Agric Holdings collapsed yesterday morning due to a sinkhole formation.
The number of stands affected are 8207 and the total estimated population is 23 802. The Department of Water and Sanitation has dispatched 10 (ten) water trucks to assist the municipality with relief efforts to the affected areas.
These will assist the municipality which is planning to withdraw three water tankers from the rural area to supply the newly affected areas. There is further need for 120 jojo tanks of 10 000 liters capacity as well. In total we are looking at a total of 15 water tankers for this relief effort.
