Ms. Maluleke sworn in as a new Member of the North West Legislature
On Thursday, 9 June 2016, the Deputy Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Hon. Jane Manganye welcomed Ms. Johanna Mmule Maluleke as a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature.
She has been sworn in the vacant seat of the African National Congress (ANC) that Mr. Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi left vacant after serving his resignation letter this month.
Schedule Act 73 of 1988 schedule 1a Section 23(1)(b) states that “in the event of a vacancy in the legislature to which this schedule applies, the party which the vacating member represented must fill the vacancy by nominating a person.” According to Section 107 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Hon. Maluleke took an oath and affirmed faithfulness to the Republic and obedience to the Constitution before she could begin to perform her duties in the Legislature.
Hon. Maluleke worked her way up serving more than 10 years of selfless devotion to the African National Congress. She ultimately served as the ANC Whip in the Water and Sanitation Select Committee, at the National Assembly and is a former member of the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration at the National Assembly.
She thanked the organisation for having full confidence in her to play a fruitful role towards development in the province.
“I am happy to be back in the province and looking forward to assist in bringing best services to the people of the North West” said Hon. Maluleke.
