Signing ceremony of MOA between POPCRU and harmony for establishment of ex-convicts College
Reintegration of ex-convicts into the society is still a concern for many communities due to reasons like lack of trust and understanding developed for ex-convicts. Lack of opportunities for them because of their criminal records and high unemployment rate especially in the Goldfields areas due to closure of mines lures most of them back to the life of crime with most of them finding themselves back in jail.
To make sure that most convicts do not go back to their old ways and find themselves on the wrong side of the law, the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) approached Harmony for an establishment of an ex-convicts college with the purpose of re-skilling ex-convicts for self-sustainment.
The existence of the college of this sort will also revitalize the economy of the Goldfield area and reuse the former mine land for other beneficial economic use.
The ceremony will be attended by the Free State Premier Ace Magashule, Chairman of Harmony Mr Patrice Motsepe and MEC for DESTEA Sam Mashinini.
