Ministers for Department of Public Enterprises and Small Business Development to hold follow up engagement session and lead the signing of a memorandum of understanding to increase opportunities for emerging small businesses in Saldanha, Western Cape
The Departments of Public Enterprises and Small Businesses Development through their respective Directors-General, Mr Mogokare Richard Seleke and Ms Edith Vries, will on Thursday, 10 December 2015 sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to mark the beginning of a collaboration that will create more business opportunities and open platforms for business people of Saldanha Bay in the Western Cape.
The parties aim to establish a relationship to develop and prioritise support and increase opportunities for emerging small business and designated groups through diverse programmes provided for in initiatives of both the Department of Public Enterprises and the Department of Small Business Development.
This comes seven months after the Minister of Public Enterprises, Lynne Brown, launched the Saldanha Bay Enterprises Hub. The event was attended by amongst others the Minister of Small Business, Lindiwe Zulu, the Premier of Western Cape and Executives of Eskom and Transnet.
At the event, frank discussions will be held between Government and small businesses on capital projects and procurement opportunities available, future projects as well as skills required for the upcoming projects on West Coast.
The MoU signing ceremony will be witnessed by Ministers Brown and Zulu. They will be accompanied by the Mayor of Saldanha Bay, Francois Scheppers and the Chairperson of Transnet, Advocate Linda Mabaso.
