Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams launches 4IRSA and Digital Economy Summit, 11 Apr

The Minister of Communications, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, will officially present the 4IRSA partnership and unveil plans towards the Digital Economy Summit through a media launch on Thursday, 11 April 2019 at the Tshimologong Precinct in Braamfontein. 

4IRSA is a partnership between Telkom and the Universities of Witwatersrand, Fort Hare and Johannesburg. The partnership seeks to stimulate and facilitate an inclusive national dialogue to shape a coherent national response to the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) in South Africa. It aims to complement and support other national activities relating to 4IR, most notably the Presidential Commission on 4IR.

The Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services (DTPS) has collaborated with 4IRSA to host the inaugural Digital Economy Summit, which is envisaged to take place on 27 – 28 June 2019.

The media launch will include a presentation and handover of the 4IRSA process summary report; and a panel discussion on “4IR challenges and opportunities for South Africa.”  Further, following appointment of the Presidential Commission on 4IR, the launch will be utilised to introduce the commissioners to the South African public.
