Minister Nomvula Mokonyane hands over Sanitation Facilites in Bloemhof, 24 Nov

Minister of Water and Sanitation, Ms Nomvula Mokonyane, will hand-over completed Sanitation Facilities to the residents of Bloemhof, North West on Thursday, 24 November 2016.

The handing over ceremony will be held under the theme “It’s not all about flushing” and it is part of the Bucket Eradication Programme which is aimed at addressing the legacy of bucket toilets.

The handing over of the Sanitation Facilities is part of the sanitation campaign which the department has embarked upon to raise awareness and educate people about how some prevalent diseases can be avoided through hand washing and decent sanitation services.

This occasion will also afford the opportunity to some private companies to come and showcase their sanitation technology innovations and the department will also have an exhibition stand where there will be some interaction with the members of the public on sanitation issues.

The department has made great strides in its Bucket Eradication Programme and North West is one of the four provinces which has benefited from this initiative as the province has seen the total eradication of bucket toilets.
