Minister Nhleko leads International Nelson Mandela Day commemorations at Ndabayakhe Primary School, KwaZulu-Natal

Public Works Minister, Nathi Nlheko will together with the City of uMhlathuze Mayor, Councillor Mduduzi Mhlongo roll-up their sleeves and lead volunteers in a variety of activities such as painting and cleaning at the Ndabayakhe Primary School in Empangeni (Kwa Zulu Natal).

“The International Nelson Mandela Day initiative has spurred all sections of our communities to take forward the legacy of humility and selflessness that Madiba as our icon espoused and personified in pursuit of freedom, equality, unity and a better life for all,” said Minister Nhleko ahead of the event.

The joint programme to mobilise for active community service and contribute towards social upliftment takes place at the school identified as one of the disadvantaged in the area in line with the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s adopted theme #ACTIONAGAINSTPOVERTY for this year’s commemoration.

Date:   18 July 2017
