Minister Nathi Mthethwa visits Embabe Primary School in Richards Bay as part of Back to School Campaign, 18 Jan

Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Nathi Mthethwa, will on Monday, 18 January 2016 visit the Embabe Primary School at KwaMbonambi in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal as part of the "Back to School Campaign” to interact with educators and learners and instil a culture of patriotism at the school. The visit also forms part of build-up activities for the Centenary celebration of the school.

In light of social challenges of the area, the event marks the beginning of this area reclaiming its place as an important cultural space that has contributed greatly to South African history. During the visit, Minister Mthethwa will also donate school uniforms to 100 learners. The number 100 is symbolic of the school celebrating 100 years of existence.

Minister Mthethwa will also hoist the National Flag at the School, as part of the Department of Arts and Culture’s’ “Flag in Every School Campaign” which amongst others seeks to promote national identity, nation building and social cohesion and instil the spirit of patriotism. Prominent Maskandi musicians and school cultural groups will provide a cultural programme for guests and learners.
