Minister Muthambi to listen to day-to-day challenges of residents of Ratlou
Residents of Setlagole and surrounding areas under Ratlou Local Municipality will on Friday engage Public Service and Administration Minister, Faith Muthambi on their day-to-day challenges with the view to improve basic service delivery in their area.
On Friday, July 7, 2017, Minister Muthambi is scheduled to visit the community as part of taking government to the people through a service delivery Imbizo.
The outreach programme, to be hosted jointly with the Mayor of the local municipality, Cllr Tebogo Modise is part of Minister Muthambi’s ‘Batho Pele- putting people first’ programme aimed at providing an unmediated and interactive information sharing platform with the local communities on issues of service delivery and governance.
Minister Muthambi and Cllr Modise are expected to make unannounced visit to a series of government service delivery points in the local municipality to observe if government services are rendered in line with Batho Pele principles, the notion of putting people first.
The visit will provide an opportunity to liaise with officials in frontline service points to ascertain the challenges they are experiencing and obstacles that hinder their maximum delivery of services; an engagement with management to discuss these challenges as well as to provide support in ensuring that the service delivery in these areas is enhanced.
The Imbizo will also be an opportunity to engage on the successes and failures of some of government programmes with the government leaders. The Imbizo will afford Minister Muthambi to respond to the challenges through capacitating government institutions with the requisite skills and information to improve the level of service delivery quality.
Imbizo is a dialogue between government and people aimed at instilling confidence and robust, participatory democracy where members of national, provincial and local government interact with communities across the country through door-to-door household visits, project visits and direct community engagements.
Members of the community will have the opportunity to receive services and engage with officials from service delivery departments that will be available on the day of the event.
