Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane (MP) will visit Sibanye Gold’s Driefontein operations in Carletonville, west of Johannesburg tomorrow morning. The Minister is concerned at the safety performance of the industry since the beginning of the year, with Sibanye Gold being among those that have been performing poorly.
Trends show that fatalities tend to increase in winter and in the second half of the year, which requires extra vigilance from Government, business and labour.
Minister Zwane will be joined at the meeting by senior executives at the mine, as well as leadership of organised labour.
Members of the media are invited to join the Minister as follows:
Date: Friday 15 July 2016
Time: 9h00
