Minister Fikile Mbalula motivated by SAPS and Katlehong community in fighting crime

The Minister of Police, Mr. Fikile Mbalula this morning joined the South African Police Service and the community of Katlehong at the arrest of suspects who have been terrorising the community.

On Friday morning members of Katlehong SAPS received information about the whereabouts of a wanted suspects Mr Mongezi wanted for 13 murders and 5 attempted murders committed in Katlehong.

The latest incident took place on 23 June where he shot 6 people, 4 died two hospitalised.

On Tuesday 18 July he shot a family of four whereby a child of 8 yrs. died, mother and 11 year old son fighting for their life in hospital.

The suspect and his friends were cornered at a certain house at Rondebult whereby the shooting ensued between suspect and police. Three Ladies and guy from the house surrendered and one suspect was killed, one injured and the main suspect Mongezi 31 yrs. is arrested.03 Unlicensed firearms recovered. The Investigation continues.

The Minister visited the crime scene this morning and thanked SAPS and the community for their hard work and working together in arresting the criminal.

"Criminals have no space in our society. I am motivated by the way the community worked with SAPS in getting these criminals behind bars," Minister Mbalula said.
