Members of the media are invited to the official launch of Women-in-Maize, a women Agricultural empowerment initiative adopted as a flagship programme by the Minister of the Department of Small Business Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, in partnership with the South African Breweries and the Agricultural Research Council.
The Women-in-Maize programme seeks to empower 5 000 women maize farming co-operatives over the next five years and will increase the inclusion of black women-owned co-operatives in SAB’s supply chain; develop skills of women farmers; improve food security; and stimulate local economies by increasing procurement from local suppliers.
Guests will witness the first harvest on the farm of one of the participating all-women-owned co-operatives, eKangala.
