Minister Zulu to lead national stakeholder consultations on the review of the National Small Business Act
Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will host a national stakeholder consultation summit on the review of the National Small Business Act, 1996 (Act Number 102 of 1996) on Thursday, 22 September 2016 in Sandton, Johannesburg. This follows the provincial consultations held between January and February this year and a national workshop hosted on the 28 June 2016.
The department is undertaking consultations with SMMEs, Cooperatives, private sector and public sector stakeholders as well as Non-Governmental organisations to solicit inputs that will inform the review of the National Small Business Act. The need to review the Act is informed by changes and developments that have taken place in the economy as well as a number of issues raised by various practitioners and commentators.
Members of the media are invited:
Date: Thursday, 22 September 2016
Time: 8:00 -16:30
Venue: Cedar Woods of Sandton
The policies, legislations and strategies for the development of SMMEs and Cooperatives in South Africa pre-dates the establishment of the Department of Small Business and thus a review and alignment of these laws and strategies to the promulgated mandate of the Department is necessary and critical.
In addition, the department believes that the policies, legislations and strategies for the development of SMMEs and Cooperatives in South Africa need to be reviewed, amended and updated to effectively respond to the vision of the National Development Plan.
