The Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwe Sisulu and the Minister of Transport, Dipuo Peters will on Friday, 19 February 2016, sign a transfer agreement that will see 72 hectares of Sanral owned land transferred to the Department of Human Settlement for purposes of housing development.
Through the Housing Development Agency (HDA), necessary studies will be conducted on the land in preparation for a Peoples Housing Programme (PHP) which emphasises strong community involvement in a housing development.
Later in the afternoon ministers will attend an Imbizo to engage the community on matters of service delivery in the area. Among other dignitaries to attend the event are the Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Zou Kota-Fredericks and members of the Portfolio Committee.
