The Minister for Water and Sanitation Ms Nomvula Mokonyane will officially launch the Kroonstad Waste Water Treatment Works on 14 June 2016 and engage with the community.
The Moqhaka Local Municipality has been plagued by the recent drought and has seen water levels reaching critical status over the past months. In the past week the department handed over 20 water tankers with the capacity of 18 000 litres each to add to the four existing ones.
The department has also intervened with short and medium term efforts that include drilling and refurbishment of boreholes in Kroonstad to augment the supply of water. Twenty Jojo tanks with the capacity 5 000 litres each were also handed over, with the municipality also adding another 20. That brings a total number of jojo tanks placed within the municipality to 40.
