Minister Gugile Nkwinti hands over million of rands and title deeds to land claimants, 5 Mar

The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Gugile Nkwinti is to hand over title deeds and more than R50 million worth of financial compensation to families, individuals and communities from the Tshwane area who were dispossessed of land in the apartheid era.

The claimants will have their rights in land restored after they successfully lodged land claims with the Commission on Restitution of Land Rights during the initial lodgement period that ended 31 December 1998.

Equitable redress is also awarded through financial compensation awarded to the Skosana and Mthimunye families as well as the Kafferskraal and Vygeboschlaagte communities.

Members of the media are invited to be part of the ceremony which is scheduled to take place as follows:
Date: Saturday, 05 March 2016
Time: 10h00
Venue: Tshwane Events Centre (Pretoria Show Ground)

The ceremony will be reflecting the full or part settlement of the above mentioned land claim projects. As part of the settlement, 23 title deeds will be handed over to beneficiaries that opted for land restoration and an amount to the value of R50 641 545.96 (Fifty Million Six Hundred and Forty One Thousand Five Hundred and Forty Five Rands Ninety Six Cents) will be handed over to the families and communities that opted for financial compensation.
