Today, MEC of Transport and Public Works, Donald Grant, will be awarding bursaries to this year’s new recipients as part of the Department of Transport and Public Works’ Masakh’iSizwe bursary programme.
The Masakh’iSizwe (Let’s Build the Nation) Centre of Excellence and Bursary Scheme was established by the department of Transport and Public Works in 2006, and forms part of the Western Cape Government’s commitment to skills development as an essential driver of economic growth in this province.
The programme has since grown from strength to strength, and continued to afford tertiary students the opportunity to pursue degrees or higher diplomas in the scarce skills disciplines of:
- Architecture
- Construction Management
- Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering
- Quantity Surveying
- Town and Regional Planning
MEC Grant and the Head of the Department of Transport and Public Works, Ms Jacqui Gooch, will be presenting these awards to the recipients at a ceremony in Cape Town.
All media are invited and welcome to attend. There will be opportunity for interviews and photographs.
Date: Tuesday, 24 May 2016
Time: 17h00 to 19h30
Venue: 7th Floor Board Room, 4 Dorp Street, Cape Town.
