Minister Blade Nzimande visits Elijah Barayi Memorial Training Center Artisan Academy in Midrand, 29 Apr

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, will be visiting the Elijah Barayi Memorial Training Centre (EBMTC) Artisan Academy established by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).

The purpose of the visit is for the Minister to be apprised on developments of this artisan academy. The Academy was established to upskill workers in modern skills in line with the dictates of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and to support government in the implementation of the National Skills Development Plan (NSDP) and the National Artisan Development Strategy and Implementation Plan (NADS).

The academy is also meant to support artisan graduates who want to become self employed and to be successful entrepreneurs.

Following the briefing by NUM, the Minister together with the NUM leadership will tour the facility.
