Minister Bathabile Dlamini on passing of North West MEC of Social Development, Kgakgamatso Morwagaashe Nkewu

Minister Bathabile Dlamini and the Department of Social Development, wish to send their condolences to the family and friends of Kgakgamatso Morwagaashe Nkewu on her passing. Ms Morwagaashe-Nkewu who was recently appointed as the MEC for Social Development died in a car accident outside Vryburg on Thursday.

Minister Dlamini said she launched this year's Child Protection in May with the MEC and she was a dedicated colleague and comrade. The country has lost a committed servant who showed dedication to serve the most vulnerable people of South Africa.

“I feel that we have lost a dedicated comrade of the movement. Her genuine interest in the less fortunate of our country and what she did to try to improve conditions of the poor was inspirational to me and many others in government and in the African National Congress which deployed her to the portfolio of Social Development.

“Her passing therefore is a loss to the country and to all those who continue to contribute in the national effort to develop and transform our country for the benefit of all who live in it. May her soul rest in peace,” said Minister Dlamini.
