Departments of Basic Education, Transport and Imperial Holding takes road safety education to learners
The Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga will on Friday 21 October in partnership with the Department of Transport and Imperial Holding, activate the ‘’Safe Scholar’’ learner road safety initiative at Isaac More Primary School in Atteridgeville Pretoria.
The Imperial “Safe Scholar” Programme was launched in 2011 and has to date reached has reached 1039 schools and 1 026 985 learners in primary schools, in addition it has distributed 48 000 sashes to aid in learner visibility while they walk to and from school on the road.
The Minister will be accompanied by the Imperial Holdings CEO Mr Mark Lamberti, who has supported the campaign though it’s implementing partner, Active Education.
The department partnered with Active Education since 2012 to work on closing the existing gap identified in terms of road safety education and resourcing of scholar patrol teams.Active Education has a number of corporate citizens who support the department in implementing the National Learner Road Safety Campaign.
