The Department of Mineral Resources has noted the announcements in the media by Anglo American Plc. In line with legislative requirements, any large-scale restructuring requires that the department be formally notified. The Department is thus awaiting a detailed presentation from the company in this regard, which should include the impact on jobs and measures to save them, transformation as well as other national imperatives.
The Minister and department remain committed to engaging with all stakeholders on ways that will assist us to collectively move the mining industry forward.
