The Statistician-General of South Africa, Dr Pali Lehohla, will release the 2016 Mid-year population estimates report at a media briefing to be held on Thursday, 25 August 2016 in Pretoria. The report includes data on HIV prevalence and other demographic indicators.
The report also contains population estimates at national and provincial level disaggregated by age groups, and is essential for informing the National Development Plan and provide a basis for planning and policy-making.
