Labour holds compensation fund meetings with medical service providers

CF kicks off countrywide meetings to interact with medical service providers                   

The Compensation Fund’s (CF) national stakeholder campaign is switching its attention from business chambers to medical service providers with two engagements in Witbank and Rustenburg on Monday and Wednesday respectively.

The meetings, both of which will be addressed by CF Commissioner, Vuyo Mafata and his team of experts, will take place from 6pm to 9pm.

The engagements with Medical Service Providers come hot on the heels of meetings with business people in places as far afield as Vereeniging, in the Vaal Triangle, Gauteng and Nelspruit in Mpumalanga.

Hloni Mpaka, CF’s communication director, said the focus of the meetings with medical service providers will be to provide quality medical as well as client-centred care.

She said the strategic priorities to aim provide faster, reliable and accessible COID service by 2020.

She said flagship projects to support the strategic priorities of the fund were:

  •   Integrated Online Platform for Employer Registration and compliance management
  •   Online Claims Management System
  •   Hospital Care Management Program
  •   Disability Care Management
  •   Integration of data from e-claims. ICM and umehluko systems or better
  •   Review of medical services function in the Fund
  •   Chronic Medication Dispensing

Mpaka said the fund also wants:

  •   Improved capacity through Human Resource Development
  •   Increase in the asset base of the Fund through investments
  •   Contribute to employment creation through investments and training programmes
     

She said in terms of the functional restructuring of the fund in COIDA services attention would go to claims registration, accident insurance pay-outs as well as return of earnings.

In the area of medical benefits, the focus will be on

  •   Medical Services (Procedure Authorisations, specialised claims processing etc.)
  •   Medical Claims Processing and payments
  •   Managed Care Services
     

She said Rehabilitation services would look at

  •   Vocational Rehabilitation programmes
  •   Clinical Rehabilitation  programmes
  •   Social Rehabilitation programmes
     

Mpaka said the meetings would also be given an update of the ICT journey the Fund has undertaken to expedite claims registration as well as to process medical invoices.
