The plight of homeless people at the Quigney Beachfront will come to the fore when Eastern Cape MEC for Human Settlements visits the area on Friday as part of a departmental workers outreach.
The purpose of the visit is to ascertain the living conditions of the homeless and those who qualify for government housing subsidy and also raise awareness on crime prevention in the area.
During the visit, the MEC will also handover blankets, clothes to the homeless and unemployed in the area. The outreach is held to pledge solidarity with the homeless and unemployed people. Information on departmental subsidies, economic opportunities will be on display.
The outreach is in line with the policy and budget vote speech priorities which has lifted the destitute and most vulnerable a top priority for the department this year.
