MEC Mosebenzi Zwane on Imbizo Focus Week

Successful Imbizo week ends on high note

As he rounded off the successful Imbizo week, MEC for Economic, Small business development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Mosebenzi Zwane had a frank discussion with members of the community of Makwane in Phuthaditjhaba at the weekend.

An Imbizo is a direct, unmediated communication platform for communities to interact with elected public representatives. The Imbizo focus week will provide a senior govern officials with the opportunity to asses progress made on government’s priority programmes. Imbizo promotes public participation in the government programmes to improve their own lives and uplift their communities. Through these interactions, communities will get a better understanding of the programmes mentioned in the State of the Nation Address (SoNA) and the National Development Plan (NDP).

Members of the community raised issues ranging from service delivery, poverty alleviation and unemployment. Responding on behalf of the Free State Government, MEC Zwane urged community members to look after public assets and take advantage of good programmes like support to Small business, emerging farmers and construction.

To round off the proceedings, MEC Zwane handed out business equipments to the value of R1,2 million to thirteen business from Thabo Mofutsanyana. Mr Vusi Madonsela of Velle Wood Cooperation in Dihlabeng was the biggest beneficiary who received a 8 ton truck to assist his leather business in Bethlehem.
