MEC Mathabo Leeto launches Sport Science Fitness Programme, 22 Jun

The Free State MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Me Mathabo Leeto will launch the Sport Science Fitness Programme which has been developed to train sport practitioners (coaches and teachers) that are responsible for preparing their athletes and teams for competitions to ensure that they are well conditioned, properly managed, and ready for the demands placed on the team during tournaments, leagues or games.

MEC Leeto will also take this opportunity to handover sport equipment to identified schools. These identified schools are: Harrismith Secondary School (Harrismith), Tiisetsang Secondary School (Bethlehem), Kgolathuto Secondary School (Qwa Qwa), Tweeling Combined School (Tweeling), Reitz Secondary School (Reitz).

Each identified School will also receive Speed & Agility ladders, Agility cones, Agility poles with foot pieces, Skipping ropes, Physio balls, Medicine balls, Sandbells, Kettlebells, Foam rollers, Aerobic mats, Stopwatches, Measuring tape, Training Manuals, DVD’s, Bleep and YoYo CD’s.

Furthermore, a 2 day training workshop (theoretical & practical) will be offered by the Department on various subjects such as:

  • Fitness  Testing ,  Components  of  fitness  &  Periodisation  using  the  given equipment
  • Introduction to the programme & familiarisation with equipment
  • Sport Specific Programmes
  • Practical implementation of programme
