With the Mandela Month drawing to an end the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mrs Mathabo Leeto continues with the spirit of giving that Mandela Month Celebration promotes.
MEC Leeto will donate school uniform to 134 identified needy learners of Thusanong Primary School in Kutlwanong, Odendaalsrus in the Matjhabeng Local Municipality as part of her constituency work. This deed follows on the work that MEC Leeto has been conducting for schools around this municipality.
On 3 March 2016 the grade 12 learners of Mokgothu Primary School in Nyakallong, Allenridge received a windfall of laptops and mini-labs which are intended to enhance a culture of learning and teaching facilitated by the MEC. Earlier in the year the MEC had donated school uniforms to local schools in Nyakallong, Allenridge.
The handing of school shoes to the learners of Thusanong Primary School in Kutlwanong, Oden daalsrus will take place as follows:

As part of the Mandela Month celebrations the MEC undertook the following activities to honour the legacy of the former President of our country during the month of July: Young Women’s dialogue (14 July); Elections Prayers Service (17 July); Mandela Day Celebration with the Elderly (17 July); Young Men’s Dialogue (17 July) and Nelson Mandela Football Tournament (17 July).
During the Provincial Government celebration of Mandela Month in Vogelfontein in Bethlehem MEC Leeto donated educational toys, toiletries and knitted beanies to the local crèche and also hosted a children’s party for 100 pre-school children. A commitment of books and 12 tablet computers, Wi-Fi connection, a trained librarian as well as sport equipment and attire was made to the new school that is in the pipeline for this community.
“As Mandela Month celebration draws to an end, the spirit of giving and selflessness that our former late President encouraged all of us to have is not coming to an end itself. The clarion call has been made to all of us to make everyday a Mandela day. In our own small way we seek to advance this spirit as we will be doing for the 134 learners of Thusanong Primary School,” stated MEC Leeto.
