The Northern Cape MEC responsible for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Mr Lebogang Motlhaping will on Friday Launch the Provincial October Transport Month in John Taolo Gaetsewe District.

The launch will seek to heighten the Province’s message on road safety, raise awareness on transport sector initiatives and showcase service delivery strides made in the sector.

October was declared as Transport Month in 2005 during the Transport Lekgotla and it is used to raise awareness on the important role of transport in the economy and to encourage participation from civil society and business, including the provision of safe, reliable and affordable transport systems in the country.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, an Anti-Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign will pave a way ahead of the launch in collaboration with various stakeholders such as the SAPS and municipal traffics.  The Department and stakeholder will join forces in communicating human trafficking messages and engaging the community of John Taolo Gaetsewe District on this pertinent issue.
