MEC to launch EPWP initiative to combat Foetal Alcohol Syndrome in Hex River Valley

Tomorrow, Minister Albert Fritz will continue the fight against Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) by launching an Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) initiative in the Hex River Valley area.

The initiative is a partnership with NGO partner, FASfacts, and will see the Department fund the training and deployment of Co-Facilitators into the communities of the broader Hex River Valley, especially its farming communities.

The Hex River Valley experiences some of the highest rates of FAS in the world. FASD is 100% preventable, and this initiative aims to tackle this problem head-on, and will provide key resources to area.

There will be an opportunity for interviews and photos.
