The Gauteng Roads and Transport MEC for Roads & Transport MEC Ismail Vadi will on Monday, 12 June 2017 officially launch the restoration project of Tolwane Bridge in Mabopane, North of Pretoria.
The bridge, over Tolwane River, was washed away during the heavy floods in 2014 leading to the current impassibility. As a result, local commuters and transport operators had to take a detour while travelling to neighbouring communities or towns. This is expected to shorten travel times for local commuters.
Construction of the new bridge will include a new design, upgrading of Road D603 to a surfaced road with appropriate reserve widths, integration of the road with existing infrastructure as well as improving user safety.
Details of the event will take place as follows:
Date: Monday, 12 June 2017
Time: 09h30
Venue: Tolwane Bridge, Mabopane (Directions attach)
