Congratulations – We are delighted to introduce and welcome the appointment of the New Provincial Commissioner of Bokone Bophirima - Lieutenant General Baile Brenda Motswenyane. The incumbent has been serving the citizens of the country as a police officer for over 27 years, with 14 of those at a senior management level. Before her appointment to lead the police operations in Bokone Bophirima, Lieutenant General was the Operations Officer at the level of Deputy Provincial Commissioner in the Free State. Her managerial skills were honed during her time as the commander of different clusters and stations within the SAPS.
Lieutenant General Motswenyane holds a National Diploma in Police Administration and a Baccalaureus Technologiae Degree in Policing. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Gender Studies from the University of the Free State. This position was previously held by the retired Zukiswa Mbombo in May 2015. Mayor Genaral Jacob Tsumane temporarily filled the position as an Acting Provincial Commissioner until the end of January 2016.
I want to thank Mayor General Tsumane for the sterling work he performed as an Acting Provincial Commissioner. He came in at a time when there were challenges in SAPS and that includes the barbaric police killings, and he has managed to lead all the operations that include “Operation Fiela” which continues to yield positive results, Festive Season Operation and the incident free ANC 104 Celebration termed 8th January Statement 2016 in Rustenburg. Of course he was not alone but led a team of capable men and women in blue men. Together with his management they managed to keep the spirit of their members high and motivated against all odds. Undoubtedly, the new Provincial Commissioner will not have sleepless nights and will find a well oiled machine on the move.
The Department, Executive Council of Bokone Bophirima and Citizen welcome Lieutenant General Motswenyane including the Citizens of Bokone Bophirima. This is the second time our SAPS in the province is led by a woman and not only a woman but a person who has dedicated her life to the safety of our people. Significantly, her extensive experience and impeccable qualifications will stand her in a good sound to undertake the task of this new responsibility. She understands better that people living in South Africa must feel safe and have no fear of crime. They are safe at home, at school, at work and they enjoy the active community life free of fear. Woman can walk freely in the street and children can play safely outside.
However this requires a collective effort including our communities and it cannot be a one man show. This will require a true Saamtrek, Saamwerk spirit. Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal of the police service in the province to serve the needs of our communities and restoring the culture of discipline, hard restoring the culture of discipline, hard work and people-based policing.
We wish her well and look forward to a fruitful working relation.
“Mma ngwana o tshwara thipa ka fa bogaleng”.
On behalf of the people of Bokone Bophirima and the Executive Council of the Province, I sincerely wish to welcome her to the province and commit to Saamtrek Saamwerk for the safety of our communities.
Good Luck.
