Eastern Cape Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Honourable Fikile Xasa, hold district sessions on Operation Masiphathisane and establishment of Ward Committees
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Honourable Fikile Xasa, will on Tuesday, 25 October 2016, visit Joe Gqabi District Municipality in Barkley East. The purpose of the visit is to unleash a programme to support War Rooms so that they become functional and realise their objectives.
The engagement session is part of the implementation of the Policy Speech delivered by MEC Xasa in April wherein he saidin the new financial year, Cogta’s plans include facilitating, supporting and monitoring the establishment of War Rooms in 705 Wards of the Province and the participation of traditional leaders therein.“The intention of setting up War Rooms is to broaden participation of civil society on issues of service delivery, planning as well as to enforce accountability by public representatives,” said MEC.
The meeting will be attended by all Troikas, Ward Councillors, Community Development Workers (CDW’s) and Ward Committees.
