MEC Dan Plato hands over two Safety Kiosks in Mitchells Plain, 16 May

Tomorrow, 16 May 2016, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, will officially hand over two Safety Kiosks to the City of Cape Town to be deployed in Mitchells Plain, one at the Mitchells Plain Town Centre and one in Tafelsig.

The Safety Kiosk will be utilised for crime prevention by increasing visibility in hotspot areas and through daily operations and blitzes in partnership with the City of Cape Town’s Law Enforcement.

The handover of the kiosks in Mitchells Plain tomorrow forms part of the delivery of the Safety Kiosks under the new Safety Partnerships which will see the roll out of 40 Safety Kiosks by the Department of Community Safety and relevant safety stakeholders and will enable communities to play an active role in identifying and resolving safety concerns that exist within their neighbourhoods.

The partnership with the City of Cape Town will see at least four Safety Kiosks utilised in Mitchells Plain, Manenberg, Hanover Park and Nyanga by the City’s Law Enforcement.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
