MEC Anroux Marais sends condolences to Nadia Goetham family

MEC Marais mourns the passing of Nadia Goetham: An extraordinary force in the publishing industry

The Western Cape publishing community has been shocked and saddened at the loss of Nadia Goetham, who passed away over the weekend.

Nadia was known as a hard-working, passionate book publisher. Hailing from Paarl, Nadia is described as someone who loved books from a young age. After starting out at the Afrikaans newspaper Beeld, Nadia later followed her true passion and took up a post in the publishing industry.

MEC Marais said, “Tributes have been pouring in since news of Nadia’s death broke, and it is clear that she was someone who was very kind, who had extreme compassion and empathy and truly believed in and supported all the authors with whom she worked. Nadia was a true example of someone who loved the power of books and reading and who worked hard to ensure that authors could get their words out to bring hope and joy to their readers.

We thank Nadia for all the hours she poured into building and promoting a strong reading culture, not only in the Western Cape but in the country at large. Her special touch lives on in the works of those she supported and for those she fought”.

We express our heartfelt condolences to Nadia’s family, friends, colleagues, and to all those whose lives were touched through her work.
