Following a confirmed case of African Horse Sickness in the province, Alan Winde, MEC of Economic Opportunities, will conduct a site visit to the affected farm.
Tomorrow, MEC Winde will visit the Paarl farm where vets have put a series of control measures in place.
Last week a horse on the farm died from AHS. No other horses on the property have tested positive.
In response, the state vets immediately placed the property under quarantine and implemented movement restrictions in the area.
MEC Winde will provide an update on the matter and discuss the impact of the case.
“Exports are crucial for growth in this industry. This is why we are adamant about maintaining our AHS Free Zone for this purpose,” said MEC Winde.
