MEC Reginah Mhaule meets school principals in Nkangala District, 27 to 29 May

Improving the quality of Education in the province remains an integral part of the MEC for Education, Mrs. Reginah Mhaule’s responsibility. When the sun rises on Friday, 26 May 2016 she will convene a meeting with all School Principals from the Nkangala District.

The MEC will in this meeting present an overview of how the province performed in the 2015 grade 12 results. The meeting will also reflect on the challenges that the various schools in the Nkangala area are facing and looking at the best possible solutions to address them.

The MEC will also on the same day,  have a session with all principals of the schools that performed below 60% in the 2015 grade 12 results as they are deemed to be under performing.

“Our main interest is that all the learners in the Province pass grade 12 hence we cannot have schools which continue to fail our learners in large numbers, equally important to this is that all our school must strive to produce quality results”, said the MEC.

2. Provincial South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod

The MEC will also officiate in the 2016 Provincial Schools Choral Eisteddfod scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: Friday to Sunday, 27 – 29 May 2016

Day 1 Junior Choirs and Opera
Day 2 Secondary A and B
Day 3 Intermediate Phase Choirs.

Time: 9h00 on all days
Venue: Graceland Hotel, Secunda, Govan Mbeki Local Municipality.

The South African Schools’ Choral activities are part of the school enrichment programmes, which seek to add impetus on government’s effort to promote national reconciliation, a new South African national identity, social transformation and cohesion among school-going South African youth.

The South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod brings together exceptionally talented young and old singers from all over our provincial schools, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents through the abilities of their voices.

3. The official handover of Shulzendal Primary School

The MEC for Education, Mrs. Reginah Mhaule together with the MEC for Public Works Roads and Transport, Ms. Dumisile Nhlengethwa ,the Ehlanzeni District Mayor; Cllr Letta Shongwe and the Executive Mayor of Nkomazi Local Municipality, Cllr Thulisile Khoza  will on Monday, 30 May 2016 handover the state of the art Shulzendal Primary School at 12h00.

This Primary School carries the hope and dreams of the people of Shulzelndal Village and the entire Nkomazi Local Municipality. It consist of 15 classrooms, an administration block, Library, Computer centre, Kitchen, Grade R centre, 22 Toilets, tennis court, covered walk ways and a car parking bay.

Shulzendal Primary School has an enrolment of 827 from grade R to grade 7 and it prides itself with a staff compliment consisting of the Principal, Deputy Principal, 03 HOD’s, 18 (PL) Educators, 02 grade R practitioners, 01 Admin clerk and 02 General Workers.

The Community of Nkomazi Local Municipality is invited to grace the occasion.
