The MEC for Mpumalanga Department of Education, Mrs Reginah Mhaule will on Saturday, 1 October 2016 bid farewell to 20 more students that will be embarking on their engineering studies in Russia. The event is scheduled to take place at Ingwenyama Lodge in White River at 9h00.
The Republic of South Africa /Russia Programme has been implemented in more than four provinces through a bilateral agreement in cooperation with the ministry of Public Health in Cuba that was signed in 1996.
This programme is also aimed at exposing the students to the international arena on various critical and scarce skills and will later improve our provincial skills base.
“As a department we are grateful that the understanding between the two countries (South Africa and Russia) has afforded a total of 100 students from the province to study in Russia. Upon completion of their studies, as a province we are going to be empowered with 23 specialists in Civil Engineering, 57 Medical Doctors, 14 Veterinary Science Specialist and 6 for Mathematics and Science Education”, said MEC Mhaule.
This programme goes as far as addressing the supply of doctors, particularly in the rural areas. Students from these areas are given priority when identifying qualifying candidates. The cost effective study opportunity offered by Russia provides the necessary support to assist in addressing this need.
All media is invited.
