Limpopo celebrates Nelson Mandela Day in Giyani, 18 Jul

Limpopo Provincial Government to honour Tata’s legacy

Limpopo Premier, Mr. Chupu Stanley Mathabatha and his Executive Council continue to make everyday a Mandela Day. The provincial celebrations will be held at N’wa-Mankena Village outside Giyani, Mopani District.

The Premier will hand over an embroidery machine to the youth at Vhembe District. Members of the Executive council will spend their 67 minutes with charity organisations. The MEC of Social development, Mrs Joyce Mashamba and Executive Mayor of Mopani will receive the Premier at Giyani town. They will proceed to the Iris children‘s home where the Premier is expected to cut the ribbon.

Mme Makoma Makhurupetje and Mme Joyce Mashamba will join the Premier in cleaning Giyani Taxi Rank. The leadership will proceed to Nhlaneki village as the main objective of Mandela Day is to make a difference to the needy and struggling communities.

They will also hand over a house to Mr Walter Muchavi at N’wa-Mankena village. A delapidated house that Muchavi was staying in will also be cleaned and painted on the day.

The Premier and MECs will then proceed to the main event which is scheduled as follows:

The closing ceremony of Mandela Month will be held by the Department of Health at Vleifontein Village in Makhado municipality, Vhembe District. They will also hand over a house to a destitute family in partnership with Standard Bank. All members of the Executive Council will also take part in celebrating Mandela‘s legacy in various areas of the province as listed below:
