Minister of Tourism, Mr Derek Hanekom, will officially launch the Foreign Language Training Programme in Mandarin and Russian for tourist guides and frontline staff in Johannesburg – Gauteng.
China and Russia are among the top tourist markets for South Africa. The Foreign Language Training Programme will ensure that tourism practitioners are adequately capacitated with a proficiency in Mandarin and Russian.
Thirty tourist guides and frontline staff from various provinces have been selected to participate in the three month training programme. The curriculum will focus on language tutoring, reading and writing skills, and a course on the culture of both countries.
