Limpopo Government and Limpopo Universities host two days Research Seminar, 29 to 30 Sept

The Limpopo Provincial Government in collaboration with the University of Venda and University Limpopo will host a two day inaugural Limpopo Provincial Research Seminar from 29-30 September 2016. The Seminar will be held at University of Venda, Research Conference Centre. The Research Seminar is guided by the theme “Enhancing research collaboration, engagement & innovation in Limpopo Province: bridging the gap between academia and public sector”.

The Research Seminar will go a long way in assisting both Universities to meet the needs of the public sector. The Limpopo Research Forum (LRF) was established in 2007 to provide a system for evaluating and coordinating research projects to be conducted within the Province. This forum comprises of the representatives from all Provincial Government Departments, National Departments, Institutions of Higher Learning, FETs, Parastatals, District Municipalities and Research Institutions. It serves as a platform for sharing best practice amongst stakeholders in support of research in the Province.

The goal of the research seminar is to offer researchers in the Province a platform to share ideas, experiences and research trends. It will provide the basis and empirical evidence for the Province’s future planning, policy making, monitoring and evaluation of service delivery improvement .The seminar is expected to be an annual event which will last for two days. The 1st Limpopo Research seminar is divided into four sessions. It comprises of an opening ceremony by the Premier, presentations from different research communities, networking session and presentations from other research institutions.

The seminar will host 100 delegates and amongst them are the Vice Chancellors and Deputy Vice Chancellors of both Universities and other Universities, Acting Director General, CEO of Limpopo Gambling Board (LGB), the Chairperson of the Council of Univen and Deputy CEO of Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC).

Limpopo Premier, Stanley Mathabatha is expected to officially open the Seminar.
