Limpopo Education and NEDBANK launch Healthy Living Programme for SA learners in Thabanaswana School, 25 Apr

The MEC for Education, Mr Ishmal Kgetjepe together with Executive Head of Nedbank CSI will launch Healthy Living Programme for SA learners tomorrow-25 April 2017.

Background of the project

Nedbank has initiated a new School Healthy Living Programme aimed at promoting the health and wellbeing of young South Africans in the communities we serve.

Offered in partnership with Colgate, Futurelife, and the Limpopo Departments of Education the Nedbank School Healthy Lifestyles Programme was officially launched at a ceremony at Thabanaswana Primary School yesterday.

Over the years, the bank has invested over one million towards Thabanaswana Primary School into construction of classrooms, the provision of an Edutainer facility and an assortment of sports equipment and back to school equipment.

With funding of R500 000 from Nedbank, the programme - which is initially being piloted at selected Schools in Limpopo and KZN - seeks to encourage and enable the country’s young people to lead healthier lifestyles, particularly within their school environment, but also at home.

The programme takes a holistic approach, covering physical, nutrition, dental and mental health components and, in addition to direct health and wellness interventions with learners, it includes ongoing guidance for School and educators as well as curriculum-aligned lesson plans and tools that teachers can include in their regular teaching programmes.

The launch will take place as follows:
Venue: Thabanaswana Primary School, Apel Cross, Sekhukhune District
Date: 25 April 2016
Time: 8h00

All media houses and other stakeholders are invited.
