A life changing experience for learners of Thekwane South
Learners from Thekwane South who used to walk few kilometers to schools in KaNyamazane now have a state of the art school at their doorstep.
Portia Shabangu Secondary School has been completed and has 28 classrooms, an administration block, well equipped laboratory, library, computer center, kitchen, 40 toilets, a school hall and a host of other important facilities.
“We are extremely excited to have a school closer to our homes, this has enabled us to concentrate more in class, as we are not always tired from walking a distance to reach school, some of our parents have also been relieved from worrying about daily transportation fares. We thank the provincial government for considering our concerns, it shows that this government really cares about us and value education” said a learner.
Portia Shabangu Secondary School will be handed over to the community this week on Friday 22 April 2016 at 12h00 by the MEC for Education, Mrs Reginah Mhaule together with the MEC for Public Works Roads and Transport, Mrs. Dumisile Nhlengethwa.
All media is invited.
Kindly note that media interviews will be contacted at 12h30
