Free State Economic Development launches Botshabelo Industrial Park in Free State, 14 Jun

The Free State Provincial Government’s Industrialisation Programme has started to play its crucial role in the advancement of the economy.It is for this reason that the government has announced the Black Industrialisation Programme which is aimed at black people directly involved in the origination, creation, significant ownership, management and operation of industrial enterprises that derive value from the manufacturing of goods and services at a large scale; acting to unlock the productive potential of our country’s capital assets for massive employment locally.

The Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA) in collaboration with National Department of Trade and Industry (dti) and Free State Development Corporation (FDC) will officially launch the completion of the first phase of the revitalised Botshabelo Industrial Park in Botshabelo, Free State.

The first phase of the revitalisation includes the security infrastructure upgrade, fencing, street lighting and critical electricity requirements at a cost of R24 million.

The Revitalisation of the Industrial Parks Programme is part of the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP) aimed at promoting industrialisation in the country and boosting the country’s manufacturing capacity to increase the production of exportable goods.

The programme is also in line with the department’s economic transformation initiatives aimed at ensuring that all regions of the country and enterprises based there participate meaningfully in the mainstream economy.

The event will commence with a ribbon cutting ceremony were the Free State Premier, Ace Magashule, MEC for The Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Sam Mashinini and Minister of National Department Trade and Industry, Rob Davies, will be cutting the ribbon as part of the event.
