More and more community members continue to reap the benefits of the Department of Labour’s outreach programme. Processing claims, finalising and facilitating their payments right on the spot for Unemployment Insurance Fund Benefits (UIF) and Compensation Fund has been the order of the day since the Department of Labour’s outreach campaign trail on Monday.
The day before yesterday, the 18th of October 2016, also saw multitudes of Department of Labour clients filing Mesepedi Community Hall in Parys to the brim to get assistance regarding Labour related matters. A total of 425 clients were seen and assisted by officials of the Department.
The main objective of this series of outreach programmes is to take services closer to the people and provide a one-stop shop of all service offerings of the Department of Labour. The campaign is spearheaded by Compensation Fund but hosted in conjunction with other branches of the Department such as the Inspection and Enforcement Services, Public Employment Services, as well as the Unemployment Insurance Fund.
Key highlights are provided below:
- 62 clients received assistance on Compensation related matters;
- 8 injury on duty cases were assessed and confirmed as such;
- 2 unreported fatalities were identified with one having been registered after labour inspectors’ intervention to get the required documentation from the employer;
Key highlights for UIF related cases:
- A total of 104 cases were recorded for UIF related matters;
- 22 applications were approved and are to be processed by the Pay Masters;
