Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant and Deputy Minister iNkosi Holomisa to discuss employment opportunities at a Jobs Fair in Moretele
Amidst the growing unemployment in South Africa Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant and her Deputy iNkosi Phathekile Holomisa will host a Jobs Fair, an initiative bringing potential employers and work-seekers together under one roof.
The Jobs Fair under the tag line: “My job my future”, will take place at the Moretele Local Municipality Hall in Mathibestad Village in the North West Province.
The Jobs Fair under the aegis of Public Employment Services (PES) branch of the Department of Labour is aimed at giving work-seekers an opportunity to meet with potential employers that can assist with their placement in different forms of employment including learnerships and internships.
The day-long event will also provide work-seekers with information on career guidance, how to apply for jobs as well as to prepare them for job interview processes. Different institutions such as SETAs will also be available to provide information on self-employment initiatives and funding.
The Jobs Fairs initiative is one of a basket of interventions by the department to alleviate the crisis of unemployment especially that of youth in South Africa was launched by Oliphant in 2012. With the initiative Oliphant seeks to build closer working relationships with other social partners and providing a link between work-seekers and potential job opportunities.
Through the initiative the Department of Labour using the Public Employment Services branch seeks to build a comprehensive data of work seekers across all work disciplines for free use/placement by potential employers.
A number of Ministers, the North West Premier, provincial MEC’s and local municipality councillors are expected to grace the Jobs Fair.
